Name Button

Sorry, I should have clarified, right NOW, the button only says the name Jim.

The Name Button (also known as the Jim Button or The Button that says the Name of the Player that is playing the game) is a feature the Narrator created for The Stanley Parable 2. It is actually only present in the Expo 2 and the Epilogue, buried in sand within the inside of the Memory Zone.

Features[]

The Narrator promises that the button will say the name of the player that currently plays the game, but as expected, it doesn't. It instead says the name Jim, no matter who is playing the game. The voice of the button itself is Davey Wreden's voice, who also recorded his speech for the Eight Game Button. The Narrator then admits the button only says the name Jim, because it is still "in development", although the Narrator never finished working on it, as seen in the Epilogue.

It it's pressed four times in the exhibit, the Narrator will move it down into the ground. The reason varies on when the button is pressed, as if you press it before the Narrator stops talking, he will get mad that you don't want him to finish up the preparations for being Jim, then he prompts you to leave the room and visit other exhibits. If you press it as the Narrator wants, he will become worried on how you can impersonificate with being Jim too much.

The Stanley Button is the lit button in the top-center of this image.

On the way to the Settings Person while in the Epilogue, one can find; among the other Name Buttons (that still say Jim), a Stanley Button. As the name suggests, it says "Stanley" instead of the usual Jim. Davey Wreden also voiced it. This button may be the only proof that the Narrator actually tried to make a button that says the name of the player playing the game, and he came up with a clever solution: the player playing the game is always Stanley himself.
