The Narrator, disappointed by the lackluster New Content

The New Content Ending is an ending that occurs when Stanley and The Narrator explore the supposed "New Content" added in The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

This ending is exclusive to Ultra Deluxe.

Obtaining The Ending[]

Main article: Have you played The Stanley Parable before?

To trigger this ending, the player must complete a set amount of endings to first unlock the New Content door, counted through a points system. If the player selected "Yes" the Settings Person asked if the player has played The Stanley Parable before, it'll require six points to be unlocked, and fifteen points if the player selected "No" on the question. See the main article for which endings grant points and how many, including any exceptions.

After enough points have been earned, a new door labeled "New Content" in the hallway prior to entering the Two Doors Room will be open, replacing the door to Employee 416's office.

The Ending[]

Entering the New Content door, walking a maintenance hallway and onto a small on-rails platform, Stanley is shown a presentation of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. As the platform rides around, big theatrical props and a vocal presentation from a new narrator tell the story of 2013's The Stanley Parable, its critical/commercial success, the availability of Ultra Deluxe on consoles and the New Content that was injected into it.

When the ride comes to a halt, Stanley and The Narrator are met with an elevator, which takes an uncomfortable amount of time to start and get moving. This mildly frustrates The Narrator, and his first impressions of Ultra Deluxe are sour.

The elevator leads up into a large room with, at the center, the first piece of "New Content" in Ultra Deluxe: The Jump Circle. It's a circle of duct tape on the floor and a screen reading "Jumps Remaining: 36". When Stanley is standing inside the circle, he can accomplish the never-before-seen feat of jumping, until the 36 jumps of the "Jumps Remaining" counter are depleted. (The counter is never replenished, ever.) The Narrator is underwhelmed.

The hallway in the back-corner of the room leads to another elevator. The Narrator is disappointed at this excuse for "New Content", but remains hopeful as to what other "New Content" may be left.

Unfortunately, the elevator leads to a catwalk hanging over the void in a blue office space, leading finally to a room with a handwritten sign that reads: "Thank you for enjoying the New Content".

Upon reading the sign, the Narrator becomes infuriated, expressing that the mediocre New Content is the result of "greedy game developers with no respect for their fanbase" rushing a cheap expansion for a quick buck. As a result, he "intends to find these people on Twitter and hold them personally accountable." He takes responsibility for putting Stanley through this, and promises Stanley to "try to get back what The Stanley Parable is really about."

Game resets to the Memory Zone.

With the Bucket[]

After completing the Epilogue, you can replay this ending With The Bucket using the New Memory Zone in the Executive Bathroom.

Taking the bucket in the New Content door will appear to keep things the same, but once Stanley enters the first elevator, the Narrator will notice you have the bucket, something he was working on for the game's sequel. This makes him realize that Stanley may have seen all his new content, like the Infinite Hole. Once reaching the sign saying "Thank you for enjoying the New Content", the Narrator will realize that if Stanley has the bucket with him, he must have enjoyed the New Content, congratulates himself on making a successful sequel, agrees with the sign, and the game resets.

CONFIGURABLE_CHEESE Trigger[]

The cheese trigger checkbox absent on the Bucket Ending Whiteboard.

In the Press Conference Ending Without The Bucket, a checkbox on a Whiteboard in the backstage can be interacted with to check it. This checkbox, once interacted with cannot be unchecked until the player replays the Elevator Ending. This causes to turn on a check in the code of the game called the Cheese Trigger. If one visits the Whiteboard while with the Bucket, It won't show up.

It is a state trigger that makes the voice explaining the history of the Stanley Parable during the cart ride in the New Content Ending change to the voice of GrilledCheese,[1] one of the moderators for the Crows Crows Crows discord server. The cart ride with the Cheese Trigger active does not have subtitles.

This effect applies to all runs after completing the ending when the checkbox is checked. To turn this effect off, the player must complete the Elevator Ending again without checking the box or exit the game entirely. Quitting to the main menu will still leave the trigger state active.

Trivia[]

  • Twitter is somehow canon in The Stanley Parable, as when you are in the sign room the Narrator says "I intend to find these people on Twitter and hold them personally accountable."
    • This line is omitted entirely in the Nintendo Switch port.
  • Previously the ending can only be accessed once. After the Patch 1.07 this, Skip Button Ending and The Eight Game can be accessed again from the Executive Bathroom if certain conditions were met.
  • The background for the "More Content" scene is actually a pirate ship, referencing:
