Parable Of The Desert SOURCE[]
Parable of the Desert - is an unusual, experimental game that expands the ending in the desert from *Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe*. Designed as an interpretation of the events "many years after Stanley's adventures", it invites the player to meet Nestor, the "reborn" Stanley. Nestor finds himself in the desert, where a voice informs him that he is a bad man and must atone for his sins in a mysterious temple ahead. However, before he can figure anything out, the world changes: Nestor falls into a strange office.

What is the game about?[]
What happened to Stanley when he got into the desert? Why did the world collapse and turn into sand? What kind of temple beckons Nestor? And who should I believe — the narrator or the writer? The answers to these questions are hidden in a plot that can be called both schizophrenic and deeply personal.
The game was created by a man who not talked about his struggle with schizophrenia, which makes the project a unique art expression of the developer's inner world. This is not just a mod, but an artwork where the illusion of choice is combined with immersion in a surreal reality.
History of creation[]
The idea of the project originated when the developer transferred maps from *Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe* to *Garry's Mod*. The first attempt was the "Liminal Memories" map, symbolizing the emptiness of his inner world. The map was never released, but it inspired further development of the project.
The first playable version of Desert Parable was created in the style of Half-Life 2 Beta and was lost except for two maps. The later version on Clickteam has been completely preserved, but it was released only in Russian. Experiments with narrative and the inclusion of the concept of "personal hell" began in it.

About 1.5 version (upcoming)[]
The modern version, developed on the *Portal 2* engine, retains the main themes, but gets a redesigned plot and maps. Elements from previous developments remain, for example, Nestor's apartment, but the story has been supplemented and deepened.

Features[]
1. Plot as art and schizophasia: The game is perceived as a stream of consciousness reflecting the inner conflicts of the creator.
2. Player's Interpretation: As in "Stanley Parable", the plot leaves room for many theories.
3. Deep philosophy: The leitmotif of the game is "Every choice is an illusion".
The game is not just a tribute to Stanley Parable, but also the personal story of the creator, who finds in the development process a means to express his emotions and fight loneliness.
Story[]
"This is a story of a thing named Nestor. Nestor wakes up in the desert, alone."
But he then hears a voice, saying hes a bad person. and tells him to atone for his sins in the temple ahead. then he falls in strange office and-- end.
If we try to enter the temple, we fall to the office from Stanley Parable,
True Ending[]
Nestor must go up stairs but.. the stairs look strange.. a large piece of the wall has been torn off...
When Nestor enters the boss’s office, he sees that everything looks destroyed... As if there were a lot of people here before him. Approaching the boss's desk, he notices the phone. A voice comes from it saying, “Wake up. You must wake up.” A female voice could also be heard, but this has not been confirmed.
Entering the large passage on the right and falling into the elevator shaft, Nestor finds himself in the old corridor. The monitors on the left give us a hint - this is definitely an allegory to the original Stanley Parable mod. Entering the room on the left, Nestor says to himself: “Is this all a simulation?” Walking to the server with monitors, he sees a sticker on the wall “Inner Guilt” and says to himself - “They know everything?” Returning to the corridor, and walking a little in front of the nestor, you find yourself in the dark part of the corridor. He sees a door to his right and decides to enter it. Entering it, we see a laundry room with a poster in Russian “Fight”. To the left of the entrance to the laundry room is the entrance to Nestor’s room from childhood. There is a theory that this laundry room is the orphanage where Nestor grew up, and the room is a false memory. Walking forward along the dark corridor, Nestor finds himself in his home entrance. Having risen to the 4th floor, he enters his apartment. You can walk around the apartment, although the kitchen is closed. If you lie down on the bed, Nestor will find himself in a long corridor... Having gone to the end, we see a cutscene - Nestor stands and looks out the window while the Finnish song from the game “My Summer Car” plays.
New Content Ending[]
After walking up the stairs and entering the door on the second floor, the narrator meets Nestor with the words “Hello Nestor! The developer has prepared new content for us! He said go to the next room and wait for further instructions.”
When entering the next room, Nestor sees an allegory of himself looking at a picture from HL2. when Nestor leaves the corridor, the figure disappears. After the player leaves the corridor, he enters the office from the Stanley parable. To the right of Nestor there is a window, so the “Writer” is sitting at the computer; we will meet him in further endings and the epilogue. Entering an unfinished room, Nestor sees a glass aquarium with a pyramid inside. The narrator says - "The pyramid? oh, maybe its post-irony". After that, going into the next room, the narrator says - “The developer are joking, right!? Yes, now I’ll show him my strength! Yes, I can erase this ga-” and then his words are cut off by a change in level.
Then Nestor finds himself in an abandoned piece of office where grass grows everywhere. After this, the narrator says: “Nestor, do you agree that the new content was just a spit in the face of the fans? Then go forward, I have a surprise for you.”
Having walked forward, Nestor finds himself in a location similar to the Memory Zone. at that time the narrator says - “Nestor, I call this the museum zone. Just don’t tell the writer.” Entering this museum, we find ourselves in a very dusty corridor with all sorts of paintings. Moving forward, we go into a room with a “Desert Parable Disc” from the Kulture company. Having passed through the door, we go lower and lower and move on to the next map.
The narrator asks Nestor - “Nestor, what are you doing? I know this location! This place was created by a writer. He always hated the original game!”
Entering the room with a review of the original Desert parable, the narrator says - “Boring? If only they knew how much effort I spent on the original game! But, of course, this is all window dressing for those who cannot understand the real art.” Then the writer interrupts the narrator - “Nestor, don’t trust this idiot. He took away all the locations from me and doesn’t let me control the game, and he also has boring dialogues. I suggest you press the skip button.”
When Nestor finds himself in a room with a skip button, the narrator tries to dissuade him, but if you press the button he becomes silent. if we continue to press the button, we find ourselves in a room with aged monitors. if you press the button, we find ourselves at the beginning of the game but without the narrator’s voice. if you go to the temple, we will move to the same office as if nothing happened.
Nestor Parable Ending[]
To get this ending, you need to go through the broken window in the room where we see the writer at the computer. the room looks like a storage facility for discarded equipment. If you press the button, a large passage will open into a room with two Stanley parable doors. The narrator says to Nestor - "where are you going Nestor, you don’t need to go there, but here, well, go f#ck yourself." Then we hear the writer’s voice - “Nestor entered the right door” If we go into the right door, the map will change to the familiar large storage room with an elevator from Stanley Paralbe.
If you go to the elevator, the writer will say - "The elevator is broken? Nestor, cant you turn on the noclip?" The writer teleports us next to the room with the telephone and says - “Nestor, I think you should apologize to someone.” Entering the room, the phone starts ringing, if we pick up the phone we will hear the narrator who says - “Hello idiot, why are you calling me, don’t call here anymore and tell this to your new narrator” Then the writer says - “What a pity that you couldn’t tell him I’m sorry. Now look here - I killed him, you understand! Now you have a choice - either you leave or you’re next.” After the writer says that he killed the narrator, a corpse appears in the room with a model of the narrator from the epilogue. then Nestor spawns again in the desert, and the narrator is still there.
Other Games Ending[]
If, in the 2 door room scene, you decide to enter the other door on the left, the writer will address you with a rebuke:
“Nestor, you don't like my game? Do you have any idea how much time I spent creating it? All right, so be it, I'll give you a choice: the green button is yes, the red button is no.
If you stop at the red button, the game will take you back to the desert, a symbol of aimless wandering and returning to your starting point. If you choose the green button, however, you'll find yourself in Roman's house from Grand Theft Auto IV. Here the writer, with irony and slight embarrassment, will declare that this house is too vulgar:
“Nestor, close your eyes, it's too ... vulgar. Let me choose something else.”
In the next second, the game will transport you to the beginning of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. As you progress a little further into the gloomy Baker family estate, you'll notice the shadow of a man lurking in a small house. When you step inside, Nestor will find himself in the familiar “Guest House” interior from the same game. However, upon reaching the end of the room, you will see a white void that will eventually lead you back to the very desert where your journey began.
This ending is deeply symbolic and emphasizes the game's key philosophical thesis: “Every choice is an illusion.” Regardless of your path, you inevitably return to the starting point, demonstrating the cyclical, meaningless, and predetermined nature of what is happening. It is as if the writer is mocking the idea of free will in the game space, depriving you of the ability to choose your own path.
