When Stanley came to a set of—
The Narrator being interrupted by the beeping sound
The Paywall Ending is an ending exclusive to The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe's mobile port on iOS. According to the Narrator, this is NOT an ending.
Obtaining The Ending[]
The player must complete two endings in the game without paying for the full version. After enough endings have been completed, walking into the Two Doors Room will have this Ending will be forced onto the player.
The Ending[]
After Stanley reaches the Two Doors Room, the lights will cutout and turn red, then an alarm will start blaring. The Narrator explains to Stanley that he reached the end of his free trial, and he needs to decide on if he wants to buy the full game to play more. The Narrator then drops Stanley into a room full of television screens of various sizes where he shows a presentation to convince Stanley to buy the game, advertising more choices, new endings, the removal of the "Free Trial Icon" in the main menu, and more of the Narrator. He then leads Stanley to a room, which has another door leading to The Paywall, a massive brick wall marked by a big white dollar sign which the Narrator instructs Stanley to walk through.
Paying[]
Paying through The Paywall leads the player to the other side of it, and grants them the full version of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, with the Narrator laughing and ominously, telling them to have fun.[1]
Not Paying[]
If the player chooses to exit out of the purchasing screen after going towards The Paywall, the Narrator will end up shocked and concerned towards Stanley, because nobody says no to the paywall.[2] The Paywall will begin to close in on Stanley, forcing him to back up against the closed door to the smaller room until the Narrator reopens the door for him, where he is now safe. The Narrator clarifies that this is not an ending, because the free trial has already been violated and this isn't supposed to be even more new content.
If the player closes the game and starts it again, the Narrator will acknowledge this. At first, he believes Stanley has come back to pay for the full version but then realizes he's only back for more dialogue, and refuses to speak any further. Any other restart past this point will merely have him repeat how he's all done.[3]
Trivia[]
- If the game is deleted and then re-installed through the App Store, the game will restart from the beginning completely fresh, allowing the player to re-do the ending and play more endings, excluding the Ultra Deluxe progression ones.
