Phones

The phone in the Phone Room.

Phones are common objects that can be spotted around the Office. A majority of employees, including Stanley himself, have either a deskphone or rotary phone present on their working desks or inside of their offices. Phones in The Stanley Parable franchise usually serves merely as decoration within The Stanley Parable and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, excluding two specific ones.

Notable Phones

Taking the right door in the Two Doors Room room and stepping onto the Cargo Lift in the Warehouse, remaining on it until reaching the other side and proceeding forward will have the player enter a dark room with a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling, with a green rotary phone in the middle on top of a round table. The rotary phone serves as a point of divergence where the player can choose to answer it by interacting with the phone, taking them to the Apartment Ending, or unplug the phone connected to an outlet on the wall, leading to the Not Stanley Ending.

Another notable phone would be the one present on Employee 434's desk, which rings on occasion during Office Variations. This deskphone has a chance of receiving three different calls from either Stanley's wife, a Future Happiness Foundation representative, or a pre-recorded message warning about the dangers of pre-recorded messages. Confirming the order with the Future Happiness Foundation representative will lead to the office being filled with cardboard boxes.

A deskphone present in the Memory Zone, it appears worn down, in a different pattern from the deskphone in the Museum.

Employee 416 earns a green rotary phone and scripts to the Phone Calls after the Skip Button Ending is completed.

Trivia

• The Apartment Ending originally required Stanley to pick up the phone in less than 15 seconds. If Stanley did not do so, he'd walk down the path to the Not Stanley Ending. As seen in the Museum.
