The Skip Button is a device created by the Narrator in response to a negative review in the hopes it would convince its author to change their mind. When pressed, the game would supposedly skip ahead for the player for a period of time, during which Stanley's body would remain motionless until the player regained control of it. But the amount of time the button skips begins increasing exponentially, and the room's exit eventually disappears, resulting in The Narrator's gradual descent into madness.
