The Garry Story is a community-made modification for Portal 2, it was made for the Portal Modding and Mapping discord server's competition where the aim is to make a non-linear, open world game inside of Portal 2. It has been recently released on the Portal 2 ModDB page as "The Garry Story: Legacy Edition".

Story[]

GarrysOffice

Garry's office from the outside

Instead of playing as Stanley, you play as a man named Garry who is employee #417 from the original game. The beginning of the game plays out almost identical to the real game, except the change in character, location, and narrator. The speech is also the same as the original (except for Stanley being replaced with Garry, and 427 being replaced with 417) until the end where Garry remembers that it's Sunday, and he doesn't have work on Sundays so he needs to leave and return home.

Endings[]

Freedom Ending[]

KEYCARD

Stanley's keycard in the blue rooms

Grab Stanley's keycard in the blue rooms and bring it to the elevator in the boss's office, then put it in the scanner. then when the elevator door opens step out and wait for the panel to fall.

The arrow pointing at the hole

Either exit the boss's office or go down the elevator into the room with pipes everywhere, then enter the double doors and walk a bit, you'll see a panel fall into a hole next to an arrow. Jump down the hole and you'll be in a destroyed office space, jump in one of the many holes and go through the 6 exhibit rooms. You will fall in a deep hole.

Diarrhea Ending[]

Go to the break room and eat all the cartoonish donuts, the narrator informs you that Garry has 1 minute to reach the toilet.

  • If you fail to get to the Boss's toilet in time, Garry will go on the floor and pass out due to embarrassment. (even though he's alone...)
  • If you get to the Boss's toilet in time, Garry will happily use the restroom and die...

This ending ends with a black screen despite if you make it in time or not.

Defenestration Ending[]

Jump out of the window in the lounge, a short fast paced tune will play and Garry will die.

Garry[]

Garry has the same model as Stanley but with a blue shirt, red pants, and green eyes. Garry is employee #417 and has the exact same job as Stanley pushing buttons on a keyboard. He also finds himself in the same situation as Stanley but it is unknown if Stanley and Garry work in the same building or not.

Intro Dialogue

This is the story of a man named Garry.

Garry worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee #417.

Employee #417's job was simple: he sat at his desk in Room 417 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard.

Orders came to him through a monitor on his desk telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order.

This is what Employee #417 did every day of every month of every year, and although others may have considered it soul rending,

Garry relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job.

And Garry was happy.

The 2nd part of the intro narration

And then one day, something very peculiar happened.

Something that would forever change Garry;

Something he would never quite forget.

He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he had realized not one single order had arrived on the monitor for him to follow.

No one had shown up to give him instructions, call a meeting, or even say 'hi'. Never in all his years at the company had this happened, this complete isolation.

Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Garry found himself unable to move for the longest time.

But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, he realized that it was Sunday.

This silly little goober didn't have work on Sunday.

So he decided that he had to leave, and get back to playing games at home like the responsible adult that he is.

Exiting Office[]

Garry ignored the door on his right, since he knew that was for sure not the correct door.

Attempting to open the right door:[]

And it was locked also.

Secrets[]

PMaM Hallway[]

Take all the mugs outside of Garry's office and put them in the box behind his office door, then the door on the right will open. This room which was an office space in the original game, is now a short hall of Nodraw textures. A screen is at the end of the hall (which is blocked off when Garry gets close to the screen). On the screen is War (the owner of PMaM) who shares his feelings towards the PMaM community.

Troll Face[]

Behind some boxes in room 416 you can use Noclip to find a troll face on the wall.

QR Code[]

On Stanley's id card in the blue rooms is a QR code that leads to a portfolio for the devs, MEVAR448 and TinnedFoil906, the QR code links to https://tgsmappers.carrd.co

[]

If you enter the broom closet and close the door you can see the animated PMaM logo.

Development[]

TGS was made by TinnedFoil906 and MEVAR448 (formerly MrBlackMesa1) with Zee (aka CyberneticZ) as a composer and assistant mapper, and Spoopsva as the voice of the narrator. The development of TGS was cut short due to the deadline of the PMaM competition, because of this you cand find a "Sorry ran out of time" wall while playing. as well as some things that stick out but don't have any purpose.
