Development[]
The game was developed in April 2024. After spending four weeks in the world of *TSP Ultra Deluxe*, he decided to create *Desert Parable* as a way to deal with this internal conflict. The idea did not come immediately, but it came like a shadow in the void, formed through experience and experiences. At the age of ten, the author created games on so he had at least some experience on ClickTeam, so Source Engine seemed complicated and confusing to him.
Story[]
DEMO Ending[]
The game starts with an inscription: "Many years Later", under which there is a restrained subtitle: "After the events of *The Stanley Parable*". Then the speaker voice appears, setting out a long monologue that can be skipped by pressing the space bar. Soon, a ruined building opens up in front of Nestor, which resembles a temple, but its ugly distorted state seems to be a symbol of distorted reality. The speaker warns him not to enter there, but despite the warning, Nestor still decides and finds himself in an office resembling the scenery of *TSP*. However, due to the terrible graphics, the place loses all signs of a familiar simulation, becoming a gloomy caricature of the original.
Then a voice says, "Stanley entered the left door." When Nestor walks through the door, a video begins to the music of Kanye West - *On Sight*, accompanied by captions that emphasize the absurdity of what is happening. The speaker declares that the game is trapped, and with that comes the transition to a new frame.
In the next frame, the speaker's long monologue sounds, in which he seems to lose the last remnants of his composure. "Is our game similar to TSP? Ha, wait, now I'll see how much this TSP of yours costs! 550 RUBLES?!? Fuck them! Okay, Nestor, I'm leaving. I'll play, maybe something really worthwhile." The game ends with screens labeled "End of demo". This moment of alienation leaves a feeling of emptiness, as if the characters and worlds we have created are devoid of meaning.
Plot of the game[]
At the beginning of the game, Nestor is faced with a statement that he has to atone for his sins, which is a hidden hint at the philosophical question of personal hell, in which each person creates his own torments, paradoxically encountering them. These "sins" are not necessarily related to specific actions, but rather to the inability to choose the right path in a world that is itself an illusion. The process of redemption becomes a fiction, another attempt to find meaning in a system where meaning is constantly slipping away.
