  • 31 July – The original mod of The Stanley Parable, created by Davey Wreden, is released as a free modification for Half-Life 2 on ModDB. This version quickly gains attention for its innovative storytelling and narrative structure.

2013[]

  • 11 October – The Stanley Parable Wiki is created by the user "Ghhghgh-fduser" on Fandom (known as Wikia at the time).
  • 17 OctoberThe Stanley Parable is released as a standalone game on the Steam platform. Developed by Davey Wreden and Galactic Cafe, the game expands significantly on the original mod's concepts with new content, paths, and endings. It receives critical acclaim for its clever writing, voice acting by Kevan Brighting, and commentary on the nature of choice in video games.
  • 22 OctoberThe Stanley Parable sold over 1 million units in less than a week.
